1996

AYO is founded driven by the desire to promote meaningful growth
in South Africa and on the African continent through technology.

1999

AYO’s subsidiary, Health System Technologies (HST), implements integrated patient record system (HIS) for Western Cape Government. The system is still used today.

2006

AYO acquires a stake in Software Tech Holdings (STH) reaching clients in the financial services sector.

2007

HST deploys and delivers a web-based laboratory information system for the National Health Laboratory Service (NHLS) – the largest deployment of its kind in the world.

2008

AYO acquires a stake in Digital Matter.

2010

HST’s JAC pharmacy system (first introduced in the Western Cape in 1999) is implemented at 112 sites across South Africa.

2014

AYO acquires a stake in Afrozaar – an innovative software business focused on commercialisation of digital content for the media and retail industries.

2016

AYO acquires controlling stakes in Kalula Communications (Headsets Solutions) and Puleng Technologies. The group’s client base expands to include South Africa’s major banks as well as many public and private sector large clients.

2017

AYO successfully lists on the JSE.

2018

AYO acquires a stake in Sizwe Africa IT Group – one of the largest ICT service providers in South Africa.

2019

AYO acquires meaningful stakes in SGT and GCCT extending its product offering and industry reach.

2020

AYO is a major contributor in the global fight against COVID-19 pandemic: HST implements 28 integration projects to facilitate testing and statistics and provides its proprietary software to 2 field hospitals free of charge. Sizwe delivers 55,000 tablets and 12 digital classrooms to enable online schooling in Eastern Cape.

2020

AYO announces planned acquisition of Kathea Communications and Kathea Energy.

2025

AYO delists from the Johannesburg Stock Exchange
